The Medical Camp at Faafu Nilandhoo Hospital was successfully inaugurated on 21 December 2025 by High Commissioner M. Rizvi Hassen, providing specialised healthcare services to the communities of Faafu Atoll and surrounding islands.
The inauguration was attended by Hon. Aminath Shirna, Hon. Ismail Zahir, Hon. Ali Mohamed, Ms. Hawwa Abdul Azeez, Mr. Ali Ahmed, Mr. Ahmed Nazim, Mr. Abdullah Jaleel Ahmed, Mr. Mihira Wickremearachchi, Dr. Pradeep, and officials from Nawaloka Hospital (Negombo), Winsetha Hospital, Wickremearachchi Opticians, and Clinica Pvt. Ltd., Maldives.
High Commissioner Hassen addressed the gathering said “Maldives has always stood by Sri Lanka during both happy and challenging times. Few weeks ago, we Sri Lankans witness the most friendliest gesture and solidarity towards Sri Lanka and Sri Lankans who have affected by the disastrous cyclone Ditwah. We saw whole nation of Maldives, from His Excellency the President of Maldives Dr. Mohamed Muizzu to people in all folk of lives, from Male to Atolls and Island across the Maldives rallied with their hearts and minds to stood by Sri Lankans as brothers and sisters. I take this occasion to thank the His Excellency the President, Government and people of Maldives for your generous financial donation and 25000 cases of Tuna canned fish. The donation from Maldives made the biggest financial contribution so far Sri Lanka received for international friends.
This medical camp in fact is a gesture of goodwill and showcase of our Sri Lankans solidarity towards our beloved Maldivian friends.”
H.E. Dr. Abdulla Khaleel, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Maldives while conveying his greetings stated that ,“the Medical Camp brings immense benefits to our communities by providing access to professional medical consultations and treatments right here at home. It spares our citizens the challenges of traveling abroad for essential healthcare, making quality medical services more accessible and affordable.”
